Hamdard Foundation Bangladesh is founded by Dr. Hakim Md. Yousuf Harun Bhuiyan in 1989. He is the Secretary General of Hamdard Foundation Bangladesh and Managing Director of Hamdard Laboratories (Waqf) Bangladesh. It is a non govt. organization and registered with Social Service Department, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Hamdard foundation is run by the earnings of Hamdard Laboratories (Waqf) Bangladesh. The foundation, being a charitable organization, promotes welfare by performing humanitarian affairs and carries out its charitable, educational and philanthropic activities. It is such an organization that pursues activities which ensures everlasting peace and prosperity of human being besides philanthropic activities during natural disasters and famine, etc.
Hamdard Foundation Bangladesh promotes and brings about advancement of learning, education and application of knowledge. Poor but brilliant students are granted educational aid or stipends from the Foundation. Three Unani/Eastern Medical College and Hospital in Bogra, Dhaka & Laxmipore, Hamdard Public College in Dhaka and Hamdard University Bangladesh in Gojaria, Munsigonj have been established and are functioning under the financial patronage of Hamdard Foundation.
Hamdard renders services to mankind by
⦁ Giving free prescription support to millions of patients all over the country through its medical centers, hospitals, medical colleges & free medicine to the ailing people from its own health centers, free Friday clinics & mobile dispensaries.
⦁ Promoting science, education, health and culture through its educational institutions, college, medical college, university and holding seminars & symposiums on health and diseases, conducting research on therapeutics and drug of Holistic Medicine, creating health awareness through health literature, books & journals.
⦁ Helping the deserving people by providing jobs & financial assistance.
⦁ Always taking an active part to help the affected people in any natural disaster.
⦁ Providing free medical treatment to the mussulies coming to “Biswa Istema” at Tongi from 1983. More than 200,000 (Two Lac) mussulies were given free treatment this year from “Hamdard Free Medical Camp”.
⦁ Providing free health service and medical treatment to the mussulies at “Dhaka Hajj Camp” from 2011. More than 5,000 mussulies were given free treatment this year from “Hamdard Free Medical Camp”.
⦁ To remove illiteracy Hamdard has established 41 illiteracy alleviation projects throughout the country.
Hamdard Unani Medical College & Hospital, Bogra
Hamdard Unani Medical College & Hospital, Bogra was established in Bogra in 1990 with a view to spreading the education of Unani Medicine in the northern part of Bangladesh. It is situated on the Dhaka-Bogra highway at the outer perimeter of Bogra city at Banani. Two hundred and eighty two students have successfully completed Diploma in Unani Medicine & Surgery (DUMS) from this college and are providing health service throughout the country. One hundred and ninety two students are undergoing their studies in the college now. About 250-300 patients are given free treatment and medicine every month from the hospital.

Hakim Said Eastern Medical College & Hospital, Dhaka
Hakim Said Eastern Medical College & Hospital was established at Nimtali, Dhaka in 2008. It has already taken about two hundred and seventy four students in 5 batches in the last four years. The students of first batch have already passed and started providing service to the nation. This college has been running another short and refresher course for the interested students to be admitted in Diploma course. A total of 8 courses successfully trained about 900 students in the last three years.

This forms the part of Hamdard City of Science, Education and Culture. The dream of establishing Hamdard University Bangladesh came to a reality when the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh approved it on 14 March 2012. It has now started its journey in pursuit of knowledge.
The vision of the University is to foster the national development process through the establishment of an excellent institution of higher education which is responsive to society’s need, able to develop creative leaders and actively contribute to learning and enriching knowledge.

Yousuf Harun Bhuiyan, the architect of Hamdard University Bangladesh, is also the pioneer of modern Hamdard Bangladesh, Managing Director of Hamdard Laboratories (Waqf) Bangladesh and Secretary General of Hamdard Foundation Bangladesh.

Since 1995, to pursuit his dream, about 100 bigas (1.5 Million Square Feet) of land has been purchased gradually at Gazaria, Munshigonj, on the east side of the river Meghna. The permanent and an ideal campus for this university would be in a large & wide open space away from the crowded city and Nearest to the Nature. The permanent campus area of this university is bigger than any other existing private universities in Bangladesh. The temporary campus is on the west side of the river Meghna, just on the west side of the Meghna bridge toll plaza.
